The Sacred Sheet

Under this sheet
a tale is hidden
written in the sacred language
of tongues

for the moon and his star
in the stillness of night
blindly, yet knowingly
spoken in
words of fire
submerged in the sea

from east to west
north to south
equatorward and heavenward
this story is read

as an unfolding romance
become less about words
the universe smiles upon it

all eyes and hearts
yearn for this infinite
interpretation of passion
envious of such consummations
and these quenched flames

Another excellent collaboration, you two! When I first read the line “written in the scared language,” my mind wanted to change it to: “written in the sacred language.” But I think “scared language” gives the stanza a whole different meaning. I like it.

Love the second stanza. It really shouts to me, great work to you both 🙂

Thanks, Phen. The interesting part about collaborations is that you can’t write it completely without “the other.” I’m glad Jadedmess contributed her gift with words, especially in that second stanza.

Very nice collaboration for a wonderful poem! I especially like the third stanza and the line “equatorward and heavenward” – than you for sharing :-
