A Lament For J

I write this lament
Because you cannot see
The one who shares
Your sheets at night
As I have seen

Like the vampire
The flesh, the bones
Are only illusions

There is nothing behind
That skin but lines to lies
Machinations so dark
They make dark appear light

The being that was
Is not the being that is
For only the shadow of a soul
Could subsist off love’s hollowness

Take a look at the one before you
In the light and you will see
Nothing
Not even a reflection of lamentations

Very nicely done! Love how the structure of the stanzas pushes back on the subject.
