What is between the in-between?
What is over the over?
What is under the under?
What is after the after?

Destination manifests
conjuring a chorus of ifs-and-buts,
between the heliac helix,

Of toppled thoughts,
precepts reverberating,
smelted in the ore
of my mind,
pressed and hammered,
beaten and shaped into

An anorexic tomorrow,
a today that when leeched
bleeds weeping yesterdays,
leaping away from logic

Where esoteric divergence
becomes the hardened
sentiment of forgetting,
the apocalyptic self doubt,

And every thought that
steeps inside and out
leads me to
lean towards an absurdity
of consciousness,
to know that there is One
between the in-between,
over the over,
under the under,
and after the after
in my mind….

Amorous Tides

I’ve been in love
with the future
now that the past
has left me.

What remains of
my heart,
I share
only with the night.

Like the moon
in waning phase,
I am shadowed in darkness,
a pale sliver of luminescence,
longing to become full
with time.

And when I do,
my love,
I will control
the amorous tides
and pull your soul
towards mine.

This a joint poem by myself and Pua Nani.

Within both of us grows a tree
Whose leaves are emotions

Its seeds formed of time
Its trunk embodies our essence

Roots in the earth run deep
An exterior rough of devotion

The two revered and feared
An unending dream in motion

Outwardly may shed tears
These trees, obligated to be cut

Letting go for a dream unfulfilled
Though inwardly, between emotion

We share a versatility of the heart
An underground energy explosion

This poem was made by myself and Lisa.

Moon Dance

When I look at you
I howl as if I’ve never
seen a full moon before
I am no person around you
I am only animal and instinct

and on the prowl
unspoken wanton needs
create an uncontrollable howl
full moon shining restraint crumbles

Seated on the curb of my soul
there is a primitive urge
to wear as much clothing as the sky

With no inhibitions
alive, wild and free
under the moon succumbing to nature’s needs

Together, we howl
like the wind through the wind

We share a pen like a kiss
dripping ink over the places
we wish not to leave blank
connecting our words to time

Not caring about spilling
only of the dark liquid
and its source
willing it to never run dry

For what is the sharing of words
if not a swapping of souls
a shortening of distance
a marriage of minds?

Frame Of Mind

In the frame of my mind
There is a photograph of
You and I
Separated by a wall
With a hole just wide enough
For our hands to fit through

What’s in the frame of your mind? I’d love to know.

for I would rather
Ink be on my hands
Than blood and
I’ve cried enough tears
To rescue a land from drought and … now
I’ve reached the point in my life
Where I only want to have fun
So yes, maybe I’m not a boy
And maybe I never was
