Sunday Again

By Benjamin Grossman and Christopher Rupley

Let’s dance in the rancid rain,
the memories of what happened
when she left that day,
and waltz upon the mezzanine,
the hollowed ground that
was the only land for me

I know we don’t need the past
in order to be struck by the beauty of stars,
but it takes reasonable amounts of time to forget,
even if time is never reasonable to our wants

It often chides us,
reminding us that it is in the
driver seat,
the lavish control room of
potential for all our desires,
losses,
victories and shame

And when we turn back
the clock’s hands
you still don’t freeze, you still don’t dance,
you still don’t stay …

you don’t even remember my name

Fantasic collaboration and I have to agree with above, that last line! Perfect, but sad.

  5. So sad, indeed… 😦 You two did a fine job. I’m torn to encourage this sort of sadness.

  6. Well done. 🙂 We’ve all been there.

–Love the imagery here Benjamin. We must do a collaborative work together sometime soon. What do you think?
    🙂

Thanks a lot. Christopher is responsible for a lot of these wonderful lines, including the rain one, which I agree is very very nice; he has a lively imagination. And yes, definitely we have to write together soon 🙂 We’ll have to work out the details.

    Great diction and imagery!

The second stanza is exactly what I needed… at least when it comes to feelings put down in words… And just for my inner, former self….
Thank you B… Best wishes to you, Aquileana ⭐
